Fitzpatrick & Kearney are pleased to announce the expansion of their payroll department, now offering services to the wider business community. This department is headed up by Carmel McAlinden who joined Fitzpatrick & Kearney in 2006 after serving for many years as the payroll manager for a major local contracting firm. This department services clients’ requirements in relation to PAYE, PRSI and CIS obligations.

Given the increasing complexity of the PAYE obligations and the new monthly filing requirements for CIS, many more clients are deciding that the economic way forward is to outsource this function. Fitzpatrick & Kearney have provided this service to their clients for many years and now with Carmel managing the department, is offering this service to the wider business community.

Brian Delahunt (Partner) states that "the complexity of managing a modern UK payroll and processing tax credits, student loan deductions, statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay and other regular adjustments means that unless you are up to date and utilising the latest software, mistakes are almost inevitable. Additionally the interaction between employee and sub-contractor taxation matters between the UK and the Republic of Ireland, means that to manage this function effectively generally necessitates a dedicated full time qualified employee, which many businesses cannot afford. At Fitzpatrick & Kearney we will relieve clients of this function and ensure that all statutory returns are made correctly and within the various deadlines. Our payroll services are available to all existing clients and can now be offered as a stand-alone service to all new clients, who may or may not already have an accountant looking after their affairs".

Payroll management incorporates the provision of payslips to employees (on a weekly or monthly basis), the completion of monthly tax deduction payslips, the completion of all year end returns, as well as the completion of all necessary documentation in relation to starters and leavers. Also available is the operation of an ROI payroll which is now required for UK employees where those employees are engaged for more than 75days in any calendar year within the Republic of Ireland. In relation to the utilisation of sub-contractors the function covers the completion of monthly CIS returns, the verification of sub-contractors and the completion of all year end returns.
